MegBio aims

Blood cancers affecting platelet precursors range from acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia, which is rare, to more common types of chronic bone marrow conditions called myeloproliferative neoplasms and myelodysplastic syndromes.

We are asking people to donate blood and bone marrow samples for our laboratory research studies aiming to understand how these cancers develop and identify targets for new treatments.

We will apply a range of techniques to determine the biological and molecular drivers of these cancers. In addition, new biomarkers of disease or outcome may be found. If useful, the new assays we develop will be offered to doctors and patients to assist diagnosis, predict outcomes and guide therapy in the future.
